RE: Tow Haul Usage?

Them that do not use tow haul mode when towing change there transmissions at 90 to 100K miles. Them that do use tow haul mode when towing change there transmissions much later. If you trade it at 80K or less, and haven't used tow haul, then just lie to the new owner when you sell it.

RE: trailer accessories are killing me

I purchased a $15K trailer five months ago and have spent about $4200 in upgrades and items to put in the trailer. Had a garage sale a few weeks ago and everything in the trailer that was still boxed or had new tags on it were sold. Got back $140. Wife says lets take that $140 and go to the dealer and trade for a bigger trailer. Already have traded up on the TV. It will never end.

RE: so disappointed in jayco and rv direct

I paid my local Jayco dealer $5K more than RVD and they took nearly six weeks to fix a small leak.

RE: Toyota May Buy Back Your Truck For 150% The Value!

I bought my first and last Toyota in 1982, after 24k miles, the Tranny needed replacement, first they refused to honor warranty, saying I did'nt know how to operate a Manual Trans......funny, I'd been driving dad's 5 ton's to the grain bins since I was 12.......NO TOYS for my driveway....... THe US of A still makes the best Trucks (and cars) on the Market. My 2007 Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel says "Made in Mexico" on the drivers door frame.

RE: PDI Questions

I know what PDI means so don't go there. I have never seen or heard of a special order trailer that was not contracted and signed for before it is ordered. The trailer is yours when it arrives at the dealer. The PDI is for the dealer and you to find and correct any problems before it goes down the road. The only exception is if the trailer has non-repairable problems. Even if the PDI shows a problem that has to be returned to the factory to fixed, it is still your trailer. As the OP said, "3 weeks away from our new TT arriving".

RE: More on FEMA trailers

OK this got my burner going. There seems to be a great generalization of the people living in these two different areas. The Kansas people have been living in the trailers a few weeks not years, and for sure the lawyers will show up. And the people with shortcoming on their insurance will sign on the dotted line because it costs them nothing and promises a probably check down the line. There were many family units in New Orleans that owned their homes outright, had jobs that were also destroyed. Then they were plucked off their roofs and shipped off from 500 miles to several thousand miles, some even separated from their own family members without knowing where each others were. They own land with destroyed houses but can not return because the areas have not been decontaminated to this day. To even compare these events and to try to make an assessment is absurd to me.

RE: Interstate 40 Knoxville to Flagstaff ???

Made a round trip from Albuquerque to Las Vegas and back, and there were a few miles of "wholly c___, what was that!" type road hazards. My wife just blamed in on the stiff ride in my new Dodge 2500. Over all from Albuquerque west it is quite OK. I have heard that east of Albuquerque it is a different story.

RE: New Jayco via RV Direct / Des Moines RV - Delivery Report

I did tell him to go pound sand. You can see my change to $10200 trade in, I missed typed. He has since called me and offered the new trailer at $22000 without trade and I repeated the pound sand quote. Some of us just have lousy dealers. RVDirect does not take trades. The $17155 quote is outright. I already have an offer off craigslist for my old trailer at $13000, and more are coming in. I am going to go to a local independent RV repair shop for my warranty work from now on even though I will stay with Jayco's. The lousy service was the deal killer anyway.

RE: New Jayco via RV Direct / Des Moines RV - Delivery Report

OK, What would you do? Bought a new Jayco through my local dealer, $19500 his list, offered $15500, he said OK. My first trailer and so like many others I realized it is great but too small. Had a few issues with leaks in the toilet, a replacement ceramic model, and black tank rinse which the dealer had installed before I picked up the trailer. While it was in the shop (4 weeks, because they were working on out of town motorhomes, even though I bought it there) I inquired about a trade. The dealer offered me $10200 on mine (8 weeks old) and would sell me the new one I wanted for $26000 (his list, no discount). When I picked up my old trailer from service they wanted me to pay because the Tornado and Toilet were not covered by the Jayco warranty since I had them changed out by them. The defects were a missing gasket and a pinched gasket. After much not so pleasant banter, they waived the charges. I went home and called RVDirect and they quoted me a price of $17155 on the trailer I want. Will cost $1000 to go get it, but will work that in with trip we wanted to go on anyway. What would you do???

RE: For those who own extended warranties. Opinions please.

Extended warranties are a big profit-center for the dealers. I have heard reports that they may receive up to 50% of the selling price. I have not confirmed that claim. In just about every type of extended warranty, the selling person or company gets a 50% commission. Buying extended warrantys over your life time is not cost effective. If you would just bank the money everytime you are offered an extended warranty you will have a much better retirement. Even if you you use this savings to pay for problems.

RE: more questions...please...thanks

They said that NADA had a value of $15700 for our brand new flagstaff 27bhss. So we are fianncing more than they say it is worth. WHAT? Can you find a brand new flagstaff 27bhss for $15700? I don;t think so. Used RV's are like the housing market now. Values are dropping at a hugh rate. Your trailer will be a "used" trailer before the CU check clears. I am trying to sell my "new", ten weeks old trailer and am presently asking 20% below purchase price (which was 30% off MSRP). I am getting almost no response with several methods of advertising. Several have called and offered less than half of the asking price. It is a rude awakening if you bought and then need to sell. The CU knows this and is protecting themselves.

RE: Forest River Debacle

Terms were basically receiving a different TT model at a set price, accomadations on money paid on accessories bought for TH and basically to be bought out without losing money. The trailer still belongs to us so while I continue to get stroked and even if we get a replacement TT I might as well use it with my grandkids as I would have to wait for a new one to be built. You have a good case if the your trailer had incorrect or no weight labels fixed to the trailer (as req. by DOT) when it was shipped to you. If the incorrect weights were just "stated weights" you will have no case. In any event, because you took it back and are willing and able to use it, I do not think you will get everything back in a civil court. Maybe the TV drama will get you everything back in a court of public opinion!!!! Taking the gloves off will get you into another court altogether,(criminal)!!! Good Luck, life is always an adventure. P.S. I am not a lawyer but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express about a year ago.

RE: Forest River Debacle

I finally got pissed and after a number of false starts finally made my terms known or I was going to seek legal recourse and get in touch with local network TV affiliates and their consumer reporters to see if they have any interest. I am now on my 3rd you will know for sure in a few days. Decided to get the trailer on the hopes that we can use it a few weekends with our grandson before it hopefully exits my life. What were your terms and what possibly could you gain by taking it back?

It is better to have and not need then to need and not have... That why I am waiting for a TV with tracks and rotor blades before I buy.;)

RE: RV DIRECT trailer delivery report ... Des Moines RV

I am negotiating a Jayco purchase with RVDirect as we speak (or read). Thanks for the info. I have to wait for a few days as Jayco is converting over to 2009 models and is not accepting orders now.

RE: factory radio bad reception or cheap??

Yes, all the stereo systems that come with Jayco's Jay Flight line are marginal at best. Mine just turns itself on whenever it wants. Sometime when we are gone, sometimes when we are there. The speakers were not wired correctly when we got it, and when I took the unit out to fix this, I could see that there was not much quality behind that pretty face. I am going to replace mine with a good auto receiver unit and a small home style theater system. There are some TV's that run on 12volts and that is what the lighter socket is for.

RE: TOUNGE JACK ADVISE NEEDED PLEASE

I broke a jack, but it was because I had my rear stabilizers down. It was not hard to break. Lots of leverage in those crank handles. I was happy the gears striped. Can only imagine the damage I could have done to the trailer if I had pretzeled it.
